Heritage Volunteering can cover a wide area of projects in College and  University Libraries,Museums, Historic Houses  and  gardens,  and other organisations. The work involved could include book conservation, the cleaning of metalwork or conserving textiles and many other things. All the projects are supported by The Arts Society, and in our Society's case, the Heritage Volunteer Representative for the Wyvern Area.

The Arts Society West Oxon is currently involved in a book conservation project at Regents Park College, Oxford .The work is done by three small groups, and we work alongside members of The Arts Society, Abingdon. The books are dusted, minor repairs undertaken and the work done is recorded. Where necessary, boxes are specially made for an individual book. An introductory day's training session is given by a professional conservator at The Arts Society HQ in London, which all new volunteers attend.
